Revolution Mill Greensboro Wedding: Courtney and Joshua
Courtney and Joshua were married in February 2019 at The Colonnade at Revolution Mill in Greensboro. We’re excited to share their story with you!
The Backstory
“In 2013 my best friend was dating his brother and told me that they wanted us to meet! We met one time- I thought he was cute. After that he joined the Army and moved to Hawaii and I started college and moved away from home. We kept up with each other for a little bit and that eventually stopped. Over the four years his brother and my best friend were so persistent. Telling us things like, “You guys would be so cute together and like each other”, “Yall have to meet up once you guys come home.” They would even joke that we were going to fall in love and get married one day. This past summer Josh was moved home and stationed at Fort Bragg. I was home for summer break and actually graduating early so I would be home permanently. That summer we went on a few double dates and talked every day getting to know each other. I knew from the moment I met him that I would fall in love with him. We went on our first official date together last summer and the rest was history! Now we are getting married! My friend and his brother were right- and they’re getting married, too!” - Courtney, Bride
And the Proposal?
“The proposal was on July 28th, 2018. He took me to a garden in the middle of a butterfly sanctuary by the water fountain. He actually contacted one of my best friends to drive home and hide in the bushes and take pictures of our engagement!” - Courtney, Bride
The Planning Process and Vendors
Photographer: Heather Creed Photography
Ceremony & Reception Music: Friendly Neighborhood DJ
Catering: In-House/Pepper Moon Catering
Planner/Day of Coordinator: Julie Skeen
Officiant: Timothy Hunnicutt
Cake & Desserts: Lindsay Brown
We absolutely loved our vendors- and we only had a few! Aside from the amazing venue and catering staff…
— Our photographer: Heather Creed Photography went above and beyond to make sure that everything went to plan and that we ended up getting the sweetest pictures. Her work is perfect and she is amazing to work with!
— Our DJ: We met John Haskins (Your Friendly Neighborhood DJ) at the Carolina Wedding Show. I never regretted stopping to talk to him. He made our wedding magical! He did an amazing job with everything from the music to all the behind the scenes details. He is so personable and we could not have chosen anyone better.
— The cake: I chose to use as many local friends who had small businesses or side hobbies as I could. This included a great friend of mine, Lindsay Brown, in Greensboro/Pleasant Garden. She made our wedding cake and it was not only beautiful but delicious as well! - Courtney, Bride
Food and Drink
Courtney and James selected a buffet dinner of garden salad, radiatore pasta with chicken, grape tomatoes, and broccoli in a chardonnay cream sauce, smashed potatoes and oven-roasted vegetables. The couple said the radiatore pasta was devoured and a favorite of everyone.
The Venue
The couple said “I-Do” in the front section of The Colonnade, which can seat up to 130 guests. They were able to enjoy an unseasonably warm day and get photos in the Courtyard while guests mingled for cocktail hour. Courtney’s favorite architectural features of the space are the wooden floors/beams and huge beautiful windows.
It was an honor to be a part of Courtney and Joshua’s love story! We can't wait to show you how The Colonnade in Greensboro can be customized for your wedding day! Contact us to chat.
